OP, as you can see with this post the same people (or similar) you see in RA are also here acting the same way. Listen to those who are constructive and ignore all the rest.

It's damn near impossible to fail as an Assassin if you'd just use a decent build. Don't make retarded mistakes like attacking the Necro who just put Insidious Parasite on you, try to combo through Blind, or stand rooted while some dude is beating you up, and you'll find yourself quite effective regardless of how horrid your execution skills are.

tl;dr Be a strong and brave ninja

I've played lots of FPS games before having bought Guild Wars, and I can conclude that the general way people treat each other in GW PvP is far worse than any other FPS i've played. The reason for that is quite simple. In any GW PvP format, except perhaps JQ, there are two consistent causes for this:
-In order to receive any kind of decent reward, players need to win the match. Making kills alone scores hardly any points.
-The outcome of a match depends heavily on the composition and skill level of the team as a whole.

In other words, if one of your teammates fails, you lose the game, and as such you don't get any good rewards, which means you get angry at your teammates for sucking.

Many other FPS games have communities that aren't examples of this kind of personality. This is often because rewards don't focus on the team having to win (but rather on individual points and kills), or because the skill and composition of the team isn't such a determining factor, because the teams are either simply too big for that, or small enough that good individual players can make a team win. In either situation, weak individual teammates aren't a big impact. The result is that many FPS communities are often far more laid-back and forgiving in comparison to GW PvP.

Welcome to Guild Wars watch your step

I suggest starting with Fort Aspenwood when it comes to PVP if you can. Atleast I have noticed a little less god complex. And you can try any build you will like. Turn chat off and away you go. Good luck to you!

People generally tend to project themselves onto others. When I play with people, I just assume that they have been playing as long as I have (4+ years) and though I know this is false, it is what I think until told otherwise. When the OP said he had been playing for one day, he was letting all of us know that, but seeing as there is no way of telling in game (short of typing it at the beginnings of matches), other people see someone who they automatically assume is a player with at least some experience. I know that if I saw someone who I KNEW to be a player of 4+ years, playing without a clue, I too would probably send some of the more colourful terms in my vocabulary in that player's direction.

That being said, I also think the OP needs to toughen up his/her skin a bit. Posting here after one day? I hesitate to think what the QQ will be like if/when they move on to HA or GvG.

The thing is, people are competative by nature. When launching into PvP, where the object is winning, and you win as a team, lose as a team. As the saying goes, a chain is as strong as it's weakest link. If someone were to join a moderately competative soccer team, not having any clue on how to be useful, then they would likely be harassed quite seriously. There are rec leagues and pick-up games for learning and laid-back play. Once you get competative, people get serious, about themselves and their teammates. GW, FPS, real life, its no different.

Most of the PvP community is not like that just the Low end. like the rest of the people above me i agree with the sentiment of ignoring them.

Most of the "Noobs" probably came from the fact that (judging from the fact you got this game yesterday) you were using the Starter build for your PvP char. the Builds work but they are not optimum.

The link to PvX above is rather useful to find builds. but first you need to worry about unlocking skills and equipment. to do that you need to keep playing and exchanging your Balthazar that you earn form playing in PvP. with the Priest of Balthazar (you will find him an any PvP outpost) for for the above mentioned unlocks

Most importantly welcome to Guild Wars enjoy the game and don't let the annoying people in RA ruin the game for you.

I cant say I really need to toughen my skin as alot of you people seem to think. I dont get offended by stupid comments in chat, I laugh at it and sometimes throw it back in their face. The whole point of this thread is that I was shocked at the magnitude of this behavior compared to other games. People say welcome to the internet, welcome to online gaming etc.. But it is not this bad in other games, I've played alot of games, I am a hardcore gamer, I am a veteran MMO player and FPS player. I've played computer games for over 15 years, the last 10 being online. And before that I played console games such as nintendo. In other games I've been in some of Europes best guilds. I am no noob gamer, and I have plenty experience from dealing with idiots on the internet.

Even though I am not as affected by all this idiotic behavior, which IMO you cant justify by saying its PvP, people are serious. RA fights take a couple of mins, who cares if you loose one? You can always just join another one. But I can see alot of other people being offended by this rude and unnecessary behavior. Long time PvErs trying out PvP, they get yelled at and simply just go back to PvE. New comers such as myself come and try PvP, get yelled at, either goes to PvE or simply quits. Behavior like this is actually part of the reason I never started to play WoW, and never will. I dont get offended, but I dont like it either.

I mean whats the point? Wheres the joy in calling someone names? Do you gain anything from doing so? Is it a self confidence boost? Do you in any way make the gaming experience better for either you or any others? Which it is all about! The gaming experience. If it was a bad match it was a bad match, nothing you can do about that, calling names wont help. The guy you're calling names prolly knows hes a noob, but we all gotta start out as noobs. Believe me I know the feeling of playing with noobs, the frustration, the anger(though for me it takes more then a 2 min long match to get angry and frustrated), but it still does not justify the behavior. Give constructive feedback, or ignore it, I usually do the former.

I did use that yes, and I used the standard weapon and armor aswell, which was uber crap.

Buying the PvP Kit you get shit for free.
I got 13 in both critical strikes and dagger mastery iirc, may be 14 in dagger mastery, 580 HP and 29 Energy. I made an alternate build with 16 Dagger Mastery, 15 Critical Strikes, 425 HP and 29 Energy, but I found I was way to squishy with that build. Both those builds used +10 armor on 3 pieces, +15 while attacking on the 4th. Im using 1 weapon with +15% damage while target is above 50% HP and another weapon with +20% while below 50%, switching depending on HP, both having energy tap. And Im using this build: http://pvx.wikia.com/wiki/Build:A/any_Seeping_Spiker I dont know if all that is optimal, but it seems to work pretty well for now.

Today I won over 50% of the RA matches, so it was a good day , a little less noobish. Though I still feel like a major noob, I dont know what other classes can do, I pay little to no attention to my enchantments and others hexes, these are things I can and will improve as I get more experience.

You would be amazed at how many people's e-peen gets stroked by the mere thought of trash talking others on the internet.

So to answer your question in short: yes.

Yes I am a noob, I bougth the freekin' game yesterday, what does he expect. Its not like he lost alot of his life to the fight which lasted for 1 min. Seriously, that kind of attitude is really putting me off from this game, its not nice playing a game trying to have a good time while half the people you meet call you a RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing retard.

I have never in my whole life as a gamer met a more unfriendly and immature community, it shocks me. I guess its the fact that the game is free, so all the leet kids are playing it, I dont know, but I dont like it.

Sure is new to humanity in here.

It's not even specific to online gaming: this is how people are. Get used to it.

welcome here

I would say, try to learn the game mechanics
and get a few builds from pvxwiki, that way u can tell what is a good build what is not.

also, u know u r new theres a lot to learn
so dont feel embarrass to ask
"sry, im new, what did i do wrong?"
usually when they know u r new, they'll help u.
I asked that too, even in some pve team!!
or ask in guru here~

Yeah, thing is, a single match means nothing to most RA players.
They are there to gain Gladiator Title points.

And in order to gain even a single point toward that title you have to win 5 consecutive matches.

One reason why a lot of people don't bother getting into pvp...the attitudes of others.

But I would suggest, as others have, to play more of the game a while before diving right into the pvp aspect of it. Gets you familiarized with how things work.
